Start with your own contribution room

Check your CRA account and records before entering a planned annual contribution. The general limit shown above is not a personal allowance.

Build the projection

Enter current TFSA balance, annual contribution, expected return, and whole years. The model adds each annual contribution before applying that year's return.

Separate deposits from growth

The result distinguishes starting balance plus contributions from projected investment growth, so you can see what the assumed return contributes.

Room and risk remain personal

Withdrawals, restored room, residency, overcontributions, fees, and investment losses are outside the calculation. Verify room before contributing.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find my TFSA contribution room?
Use your CRA account and your own records. The general annual and cumulative limits do not account for your contributions, withdrawals, eligibility, or corrections.
When is withdrawn TFSA room restored?
A qualifying withdrawal is generally added back to contribution room at the beginning of the following calendar year, not immediately in the same year.
Is TFSA investment income tax-free?
Investment income and qualifying withdrawals are generally tax-free in Canada. Foreign withholding tax and prohibited or non-qualified investments can require separate review.
What happens if I overcontribute?
An overcontribution can create tax and reporting consequences. This calculator projects growth but does not test deposits against your personal room.
Do investment losses restore contribution room?
No. A decline in account value does not create new contribution room. Only the applicable contribution-room rules determine what you may contribute.
Which year's limits are displayed?
The page resolves the centrally maintained 2026 annual and cumulative reference values. Your current personal room remains the amount determined from your own CRA history.
