From electricity use to target energy

The calculator multiplies annual use by target coverage. Annual use of 5,000 kWh and an 80% target correspond to 4,000 kWh of solar energy per year.

Specific yield and losses

Specific yield states how many kilowatt-hours one installed kWp is expected to produce annually. Use a local value for location, tilt, and orientation. The loss percentage is only a broad system allowance.

Panels and roof area

Calculated kWp is divided by panel rated power and rounded up. Displayed area is only panel count times panel area; setbacks, walkways, and roof obstructions require more space.

What professional design must add

Structure, shading, strings, inverter sizing, storage, self-consumption, grid connection, and local rules determine the real system. Cost and currency come only from your inputs.

Frequently Asked Questions

How large should my solar system be?
The model divides target annual solar energy by specific yield after the entered system-loss allowance.
What does kWp mean?
Kilowatt-peak is the combined rated DC power of panels under standard test conditions, not continuous output.
How many panels do I need?
Required kWp is divided by panel watts and rounded up to a whole panel.
How do I find specific yield?
Use a location- and orientation-specific estimate from a reputable solar resource or installer, expressed as annual kWh per installed kWp.
Are shading and system losses included?
Only the loss percentage you enter is included. Detailed hourly shading and component behavior are not simulated.
Does this replace roof and grid planning?
No. A professional plan must check structure, setbacks, fire access, inverter design, electrical rules, and grid connection.
