From an order to the actual result

A healthy product margin alone does not prove that an order is profitable. Shipping, payment fees, returns, advertising, and fixed costs all consume the same selling price. This calculator combines them in one order-level model.

How the order is calculated

The return rate first reduces expected revenue. The calculator then deducts the product, packaging, shipping, percentage and fixed fees, and the expected return reserve. CPA and allocated fixed costs are subtracted from the remaining contribution.

With the example values, a selling price of 100.00 becomes 90.00 in expected revenue after returns. After all entered costs, 23.90 remains per order, or 2,390.00 across 100 orders.

Reading CPA and break-even ROAS

Maximum CPA is the highest acquisition cost an order can carry before the planned monthly result reaches 0. Break-even ROAS compares expected revenue after returns with that advertising budget. It is a planning threshold, not a performance guarantee.

Discounts, sales tax or VAT, customs duties, inventory changes, payment timing, and marketplace-specific refunds are not modeled automatically. Adjust the inputs to match your actual settlement reports.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which costs belong to an ecommerce order?
Include at least the product, packaging, shipping, payment and platform fees, expected return losses, and advertising. You can also distribute monthly fixed costs over planned order volume.
How are platform and payment fees included?
Enter a percentage of the selling price and a fixed fee per order. The calculator conservatively assumes those fees apply to every placed order.
How do returns affect profit and margin?
The return rate first reduces expected revenue. It is also multiplied by the loss per return to represent return shipping, refurbishment, or inventory write-offs.
What does break-even ROAS mean?
Break-even ROAS shows how much revenue the maximum affordable advertising cost must generate for the planned monthly result to reach exactly 0. A higher ROAS produces profit under the same assumptions.
How are fixed costs allocated to orders?
The calculator divides monthly fixed costs by planned monthly orders. Lower volume therefore raises the fixed-cost share of each order.
Why is revenue not the same as profit?
All entered product, fulfillment, return, advertising, and fixed costs are deducted from expected revenue. Only the remaining amount is the planned result.
