Gross pay and pay frequency

The calculator annualizes the entered amount using the selected frequency. Hourly pay assumes 2,080 hours per year. Annual taxes and deductions are then divided back into the chosen pay period.

Federal tax and filing status

Single and Married Filing Jointly use different standard deductions, brackets, and Additional Medicare Tax thresholds. This estimate is not an exact W-4 withholding calculation.

FICA, state tax, and 401(k)

Social Security applies only up to the selected year's wage base. Medicare can increase above the relevant threshold. State tax is deliberately a user-entered flat rate; local taxes and complex state rules are omitted.

Why an actual pay stub may differ

W-4 elections, benefits, HSA/FSA deductions, local tax, bonuses, overtime, and employer deductions can change take-home pay. A bonus entered here is annualized like ordinary gross pay rather than using a special withholding method.
