Estimate simplified Canadian federal and provincial tax using finalized 2025 rules.
Taxable income and province
Enter annual taxable income after applicable deductions and select the province or territory relevant to your tax return. The calculator uses Canadian dollars and finalized rules for the 2025 tax year.
Progressive brackets and basic amounts
Only the part of income inside each bracket is taxed at that bracket's rate. The model then subtracts the basic personal amount as a non-refundable credit at the lowest applicable federal or provincial rate.
Federal tax, provincial tax, and Quebec
The result separates simplified federal base tax from base tax for the selected province. For Quebec, the calculator reduces federal tax by the 16.5% abatement. Quebec-specific contributions and other special rules are not included.
Interpreting the estimate
The estimate excludes most other credits and deductions, provincial surtaxes, reductions, and health premiums. Verify a tax return using the CRA's 2025 tax rates and, for Quebec, Revenu Québec.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which province is relevant to my tax?
Choose the province or territory relevant to your Canadian tax return. If you moved or have a special situation, confirm the assignment with the CRA or a tax professional.
How do provincial tax brackets work?
Canadian brackets are progressive. Only the part of income inside a bracket is taxed at that bracket's rate, not all of your income.
Are provincial credits included?
Only the basic personal amount is included as a simplified non-refundable credit. Other federal and provincial credits are not modelled.
Is federal tax included?
Yes. The result shows simplified federal base tax and base tax for the selected province separately, plus their combined amount.
How is Quebec handled?
For Quebec, the calculator applies the 16.5% federal tax abatement. Other Quebec-specific contributions, credits, and special rules are excluded.
Which tax year do the values use?
The calculator uses finalized 2025 brackets and basic personal amounts. It does not project those values into later years without verification.
